Dolphus S. "Doll" Johnson, 84, of Brooks, died Sat. Feb. 27, 1993, at Summers County Hospital, Hinton, after a short illness.

Born July 30, 1908, at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Melville S. and Lucinda Cales Johnson.

He was a 67-year resident of Brooks and was a member of Hinton Church of Christ. He was active with the church and was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn V. Johnson of Sept. 28, 1989; a son, Edward Johnson in June of 1966; six brothers and six sisters.

Surviving: sons, Jerry S. of Glenville, Curtis W. of Newton Falls, Oh.; daughters, Mrs. John (Barbara) Cales of Otis Orchards, Wash., Nancy Neely of Hinton, Mrs. Lonnie (Maxine) Payne of Millboro, Va., Annabelle Bennett of Covington, Va., Mrs. Bobby (Mary Alice) Tucker and Mrs. James (Dorothy) Tucker, both of Columbus, Oh., Mrs. James (Linda) Eggleston of Hopewell, Va.; sister, Lottie Church of Hilldale; 28 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wed. Mar. 3 at the Hinton Church of Christ with Fred Dinkler officiating. Burial followed in the Fox Cemetery, Brooks.
