Marcella Marie ("Tootsie" or "Sally") HIRSCH was born on 30 Nov 1914 in Beaver, Boone County, NE. She was baptized on 10 Jan 1915 in St. Edward's Church at St. Edward, NE. She was baptized by the Rev. Wm. Mulligan; sponsors were James J. Cahill and Elizabeth Reitz.

A sixty-four year resident of Lomita/Harbor City, she died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma on 22 Jan 2009 in Harbor City, CA. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Donald Armes, and also by her second spouse of 16 years, John Shellman. She was survived by three daughters, Mollie Young of Riverside, Ruth Garrett of Harbor City and Bonnie Nolan of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Thomas Armes, died in 1994. At the time of her death she had one living brother, Vernon Hirsch; and three sisters, Mary Reynoldson, Bette Goodman, and Patricia Bartlett.

Sally was a long-time member of Saint Margaret Mary Alocoque Parish, member of the Chamber of Commerce, Ladies' Kiwanis, Lomita Historical Society, and a one time Red Cross Gray Lady. She enjoyed square dancing, travel, and being with her family.

Marcella and Donald Eugene ARMES were married on 23 Jan 1935 in St. Edwards, NE by Fr. Wm. Mulligan. Witnesses were L. E. Peterson and G. Hirsch.
