Dennis Duane Marvin, 61, of Merlin, died Saturday, June 14, 2008, in Merlin at the 4000 Block of Quartz Creek Rd. Tragically, he was the victim of a homocide related to an argument over the use of a road easement connecting two properties.

Dennis was born April 7, 1947, at Elgin, Illinois to Murrl Leslie Marvin, Sr. and Doris Jean Streit Marvin.

He served in Vietnam from Dec. 6, 1969, to Dec. 6, 1970. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal and Bronze Star. In 1971, he moved to his cabin on Quartz Creek Road. In 1979, he met his wife, Carol. He owned and operated a local countertop shop with his brother until his retirement to his home on the mountain.

Dennis was survived by his wife, three children; stepmother Ida; sister Penny; brothers Terry, Mike and Gene "Rocky;" and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Murrl (10 Jan 1922 - 22 Feb 1986); mother, Doris (1923-1959); brother, Murrl Leslie Marvin, Jr (1945-1973)
