DR. RIDGMAN
PASSES AWAY
THIS MORNING

WELL KNOWN PHYSICIAN DIES
AFTER LONG ILLNESS WITH
HEART TROUBLE
Dr. A. L. Ridgman of this city,
passed away about two o'clock Satur-
day morning after an illness of about
one year, heart trouble having kept
the local physician in bed almost con-
stantly for the past six weeks. The
doctor was very well known in this
city and has a great many friends
who had hoped that his serious illness
would soon take a turn for the better
and that he might be back in the cir-
cle of his old friends.
--Born in East--
Dr. Ridgman was born in Sugren
Falls, Ohio,* but spent but a short time
in the eastern state, moving with his
parents to Bay City, Wis. when a boy.
He received his early education in the
schools of Bay City and was a parti-
cularly bright student in his youth.
His desire to become a doctor began
to be realized when he was given a
chance to attend Hammond College,
at Minneapolis, after completing his
education at Bay City. Later he enter-
ed an Iowa Medical school where he
continued his study of medicine and
completed his course in Rush Medical
College in Chicago.
Shortly after completing his college
career Dr. Ridgman came to this city
and established his practice. It did not
take the doctor long to establish him-
self in the community and his practice
grew and placed him in the position
of being one of the leading physicians
of the city. His devotion to his prac-
tice did not let him forget his duty as
a citizen and his interest in municipal
affairs resulted in his holding several
city offices.
--Is Old Resident--
The doctor came to Wisconsin Rapids
thirty-three years ago and lived
here continuously until the time of his
death. He was elected mayor of the
city with a decisive majority at one
election and for a number of years
served as city health officer, giving up
this office about a year ago due to ill
health. He has been active in making
the Elks lodge of this city successful
in its various activities. He was a
member of the Chapter of the Masonic
Lodge in this city and prominent
in the work of this order. He was also
a member of the Eastern Star in this
city. Dr. Ridgman became ill with
heart trouble about a year ago and
while his condition was quite serious
at that time he rallied in the spring
and a great deal of hope was held for
his recovery.
He is survived by his wife and six
children, the children being Mrs. Edna
Willard of Idaho; Mrs. Chas. E. Briere
of this city, Chester and Elizabeth of
this city, Mrs. Konecke, of Fond du
Lac and Earl of Illinois. He also has
two surviving sisters, Mrs. Nettie
Comstock, Miles City, Mont.; and
Mrs. Edna Doughty, Valentine, Mont.
The funeral will be held Monday
afternoon at 1:30 from the house and
conducted by the Masonic lodge, burial
to be made in Forest Hill cemetery.
