Murdered Victim. She and her mother Beryl Evans were murdered in their home on November 8, 1949. Her 23-year-old father, Timothy Evans, was accused of the murders and on January of 1950 was tried, convicted of the murder and executed by hanging on March 9, 1950. Three years later after the execution, John Christie, a neighbor of the Evans, confessed to the Evans murders, along with a series of at least six other murders. Several books and films have been based on this miscarriage of justice. She and her mother share a grave marker with George Henry Potter, who died in 1948. The relationship between the Evans and Potter is unknown. Timothy Evans was granted a posthumous pardon in 1966. Her father's remains were then exhumed from Pentonville Prison and reinterred at St Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery in Leytonstone in November of 1966.
