William Leroy Helsel, 62 323 Third Ave., Altoona, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1939, in Duncansville, a son of Edward L. and Jane "Jennie" May (Rudy) Helsel. He married Judith Ingram Sept. 26, 1959.
Mr. Helsel retired as jitney driver in 1991 from James McNulty Co.
He was a member of the Pennsylvnia Keystone CB club Inc. and was known as "Broken Arrow"
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, DeNice Everhart of Altoona; four sons: DeWayne Helsel of Altoona, Rodney Allen Helsel of Nanty Glo, Dairin Helsel at home and Derryl Helsel of Greenwood; three sisters: Avis Shaw and Lois Miller, both of Altoona, and Mary Mitchell of Juniata; two brothers; Edward Helsel of Altoona and James Helsel in Florida; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Marie; and a sister, Florence Johnsonbaugh.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home by Pastor G. Edward Corcelius. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
