George W. Ness, Altoona city employe, died last night at the home of his cousin, Mrs. Mary Williamson of North Twelfth Street, Bellwood after an illness of several months.

He was born in Eldorado Jan. 22, 1876, a son of Henry and Mary (Russ) Ness. He was the last of his immediate family. Mr. Ness spent 36 years in the city's service assuming his duties at the Canan Station sewage plant in 1905 at which time his father was working in the same capacity. Mr. Ness retired in 1941.

He was noted as an outdoorsman and his hobby was the cultivation of flowers. Flowers from his gardens in past years were used on the desks at City Hall.

Mr. Ness was a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.

Friends will be received at the Fouss Mortuary, Bellwood, after 7 o'clock Thursday evening.

NESS - Funeral services for George W. Ness of Altoona and Bellwood will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fouss Mortuary in Bellwood in charge of Rev. Homer Hoover. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 o'clock Thursday evening.
