William "Bill" Briley was born on November 25, 1927 in Moulton, Alabama the son of Woodie and Pearlie Briley. He had an older brother Curtis. His father was a farmer as well as a Baptist minister, his mother a busy homemaker as was the norm at that time.

He grew up in Alabama and graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1945. He then went to work at Goodyear Mills which was a cotton and textile plant. While working there he met Catherine Richard whom he would marry on August 4, 1951. They would have 2 sons, James and Michael.

In January of 1954 they moved to Flint Michigan to work in auto industry. William worked at GM for 30 years retiring in December of 1984. After retiring William and Catherine spent 8 years living mostly in Willow Springs, Missouri, property that had purchased in 1959 while on vacation. They moved back to Michigan in large part to be close to their only grandson Tony.

Sadly William's health deteriorated over the last several years of his life and he passed away on Saturday, April 23,2011 surrounded by loved ones in his own home. Through it all he never lost his upbeat and positve attitude on life and is greatly missed by all who loved him.

His wife Catherine was the best caregiver in the world and was tireless in personally taking care of him.
