Mary E. Louko, age 69, of Ashland, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center, in Ashland. She was born March 21, 1945, in Ashland, the daughter of John D. and Florence (Higgins) Simmons.

In 1963, she graduated from DePadua High School. On August 6, 1966, she married Thomas Louko, in Ashland. For a couple of years, Mary worked as an aide for St. Joseph's Hospital, in Ashland. She worked for Smith Floral, Court Manor, Economart and also as a housekeeper. For over 40 years, Mary picked her super nightcrawlers that she sold to area fisherman. For over the past 20 years, she was a school bus driver for Lake Shore Buses, in Ashland. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland. Mary enjoyed the Packers, hockey, the Olympics and sports; where she would always root for the underdog. She liked telling jokes and stories, reading and going fishing. She loved being with people and most of all, loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas "Tom" Louko, Ashland; four children, Thomas "Tommer" (Brenda) Louko, Sheboygan Falls, Bryan "Arnie" (Lisa M. Olsen) Louko, Jefferson, Maija (Andy) Traaholt, Ashland and Patty (William "Bill") Berg, Hartland; her twelve grandchildren that she loved more than life itself, Lauren, Grace and Jack Louko, Jesse Louko, Reilly Louko and Alexandra Olsen-Louko, Tommy, Tony and Joey Traaholt and Emma, Josee and Billy Berg; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, John D. Simmons, who passed away on the Edmund Fitzgerald; mother, Florence Simmons; infant son, Thomas; twin grandsons, Jack and Alex in 2000; and a sister, Patricia Thompson.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, with Father Paul Paré O.F.M. officiating.

Inurnment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, in Ashland.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland.

Arrangements are by Frost Home for Funerals and Ashland Cremation Services, in Ashland.
