The story Born free was the story of life of Elsa the Lioness and her life from a cub to adult life living with Joy and George Adamson.
Elsa's mother was killed by George who worked as game warden. He then brought Elsa and her two sisters back to camp with him. Elsa's sisters would later go live in the zoo. Joy and George both raised Elas and with the hard work from the Adamson's Elsa would learn to live as a wild lion. She was almost killed by pack of wild female lions. Once back healthy Elsa left camp again. Her longest time she would spend away from the Adamsons was 6 weeks. When she came back she brought back her three cubs.
After that she stayed away from camp for many days at a time.
After her cubs grew up and on thier own. Elsa came down with tick fever known as Babesia. She went back to camp at this time just George was there with his men. Joy was in England. Before Joy made it back Elsa died in George's arms in the door way of his tent.Adoptive Parents:
George and Joy Adamson

Elsa died with her head in George's lap. He wrote of his great sadness and pain in her passing. After George buried her, George and his scouts fired 20 volleys of shots over her grave in the hopes that her mate may have heard them and paused. Elsa died from a tick born disease called Babesia. She was only 5 years old.
