CORNELL, At his home near Hamlton, Janesville township, Wednesday night, January 6, 1892, of pneumonia, Mr. H. I. Cornell, aged 67.

In the passing away of this good man, the community in whixh he lived, and the county as well, has met with a severe loss. He had been a resident of Janesvill township for a number of years and was highly respected and esteemed by all.

He was an old veteran, was a member of Co. F. Ninth Minnesota Infanty, and when discharged at the end of the war, was a sergeant. He was a faithful member of Hamilton Post No 488, G.A.R.; and was one of its charter members, and was, at his death, Senior Vice Commander elect.

He leaves several children to mourn a loving father's death. His wife died on the 5th of September of last, and the children in their double bereavement, have the heartfelt sympathy of all.

A friend contributes the following to his memory;

Another comrade fallen;
Another head laid low;
Another patriot heart is stilled,
By the all conquering joe.

No more he'll hear the bugle;
No more his eyes shall see
Freedom's sacred Flag unfuried.

He was quick to enroll his name
As one of Freedom's hosts;
And, whenever duty called,
Was ever at his post.

His patriotic deeds should be
Engraved on memory's wall;
Nor forgotten be, untill
One flag shall shelter all.

Rest. brave soldier, rest in peace;
Life's last battle's won.
"Death's portials open every hour,
We must pass it one by one."

"O, conrade dear, and patriot true,
Our grief ther's none can tell;
O, heart so brave, but now so still,
Hail! and farewell, farewell."
