Percy traveled back to England with his family in 1884. They settled in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, the home base of the 2nd Battalion, 10th Regiment (North Lincoln).
On December 7, 1884, in the New Barracks in Lincoln, Percy died after suffering from Dysentery for 5 days. He was buried on December 10, 1884 in the Newport Cemetery in Lincoln.
