On April 30, 1907 Herbert sailed from Liverpool, England to Boston, Mass on the SS. Saxonia. His final destination was Lansing, Michigan, where he would meet up with this brother-in-law Ernest Avis and his Uncle John Faut. His wife and infant son would soon join him there, with the remainder of his family traveling to Lansing in 1908 and 1909.
