Thomas Elms, born in 1768, a son of Christopher, came to Illinois about 1820 to join his brother Samuel on Greenbriar Creek. He died there on April 2, 1839. He had married Rosanna Hadden in Kentucky on January 31, 1808. In their marriage contract, James Elms, another brother, stated that he was married to Becky Hadden, Rosanna's sister, and that Rosanna had been living with them. He had "talked with Rosey's father who lived over in another county and who had agreed to the marriage". Soon after that, the two brothers went over into Randolph County, Illinois for a time.
