Lydia was the daughter of John Howe. She married Samuel Potter (son of Samuel & Dorotha Moulthrop Potter) on 8 Jan 1765 and was the mother of ten children - 5 boys and 5 girls. She died from a case of the measles, according to the town records.

After her death, her husband and some of their children migrated to Oneida Co. NY, where Samuel died in August 1806. His is the oldest known burial in the Seventh Township Cemetery in Camden, Oneida Co. NY.
