Funeral Announcement in the Topeka Daily Capital, Oct. 7, 1903:

The funeral of Mrs. Anna Bruington, mother
of Chief of Police Goff, was held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning from the residence, 708 Morse Street. Six policemen acted as pall bearers. Interment was made in Rochester Cemetery.

Anna married Rufus S. Goff on April 11, 1844 in Warren County, Illinois. He died March 2, 1852.
Anna remarried on Nov 30, 1854, to Thomas Bruington. They were married in Warren County, Illimois.

This is an excerpt from the obituary of
Carlos A. Goff (Mrs. Bruington's son)

In 1902-3 he served as chief of police and during the big flood of 1903 was one of the foremost in rescuing the refugees. He was himself marooned in a North Topeka elevator with his family. His mother and son, Verne (Fern), died from Exposure during the flood.
