MRS. CATHERINE FESSENDEN BURIED SUNDAY
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Lewis Bros, funeral home for Mrs. Catherine Fessenden, 85 years of age. Services were in charge of Rev. William J. Heriford of Hannibal. Interment was in the Andrew Chapel cemetery near Warren. Music was furnished by Mrs. W. E. Sutterfield and daughter, Miss Alpha Jo.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Blackburn, Ernest Keller, Sam Shannon, Oney Whitaker, Martin and Frank Shannon.
Mrs. Fessenden passed away Saturday morning, May 19, at 5:45 in the home of her son, Samuel D. Fessenden, of the West Ely community, after a short illness. She had been in frail health for several years.
Catherine McElroy Fessenden was born in Marion county, July 26, 1865, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McElroy and spent her entire life in the county. She was married to Travis N. Fessenden, Sept. 14, 1882. He preceded her m death in 1931. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Fessenden had made her home in Palmyra until about ten days ago when she was taken to the home of her son. Mrs. Fessenden was a member of the Warren Baptist church.
Surviving besides the son, Samuel are two other sons, Benjamin F. of west of Palmyra and Hugh, of Palmyra, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Susie Barr of Los Fresnos, Texas. Six children preceded her in death.
