Bernard Glenn Arnold, 80, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, in his lifelong home.

He was born June 11, 1925, in Port Huron, and has lived in the area all his life. He married Edna Ida Miller on June 26, 1948, in Sacred Heart Church in Yale. They had been married 56 years when she died July 22, 2004.

Bernard retired from Port Huron Paper Company after 44 and 1/2 years of employment (he was a third generation employee). He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of WWII.

He loved feeding birds, working in his garden, and watching his family grow.

His family thought he was an amazing man and there was nothing that he could not accomplish.

He is survived by his children, Diana (Sheldon) Jones of Sarnia, David (Diana) Arnold of North Street, and Linda K. (Ray) Reichenbach of Port Huron; grandchildren, Michael Arnold, Daniel Jones, Lisa Arnold, Jennifer Jones, Ashley, Amber and Adam Reichenbach; great granddaughter, Kiley Kay Reichenbach.

He is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at KarrerSimpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph A. Gagnon will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military rites will be under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.

Visiting hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Thursday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
