Edgar William Baade, 82, of Richmond since 1970, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center in Mount Clemens. He was born Oct. 20, 1925, in New Haven, to the late Martin and Christina Bruns Baade.
He married Grace Monica Avendt on Aug. 12, 1950, in New Baltimore.He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater, and in the Philippines as a medic and staff sergeant from 1944 to 1946. He was head custodian at New Haven schools for 33 years. He was a helpful handyman to many who loved spending time at his cabin in Tawas. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, family said.

Mr. Baade is survived by his daughters, Linda (Patrick) Murphy of Lenox Township and Luann (Louis) Trautman of Richmond Township; grandchildren, Melinda Keilman, Dianne Murphy, Kevin Trautman and Celia Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Patrick Edgar, Renee and Kaylee; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Grace, on June 28, 2004; five brothers; three sisters; and great-grandson, Gaige.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kaatz Funeral Directors, 71235 Memphis Ridge Road, Richmond Township. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Baltimore.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial donations may be addressed to the wishes of the family
