John Riley Mann married Sarah Ann Gee 11/26/1857 in Wellsboro, Tioga County, Pa. Five children were born to them, Malissie Jane 1861-1935, Florence California 1867-1937 (Believed to have married Frank Burt Dec 19, 1888), Ellen Elizabeth 1870-1912 (Married George Peppler on May 9, 1888), Emma Latilla 1874-1971 (Married George Pepper Sept 19,1892) and Cyrus John 1864-1931. Cyrus is the Father of S.Idella Nelson,The Mother of Walter Nelson,The Father of John I Nelson, The Father of Matthew J Nelson, The Father of John W Nelson. John Riley served his Country in the Civil War, was wounded in action, and was held as a POW at the Andersonville Prison known for it's terrible conditons. Constructed for 10,000 it held 33,000 at one time. Over 43,000 prisoners were held there during it's 14 months of existance. Physical abuse he received while there plagued him the rest of his life and he never fully recovered. An outstanding person, Honest and hardworking. He was 49 years and 11 months old at the time of his death. Records state: Civil War Veteran, Private, Company "C", 89th New York Infantry. Enlisted at Orange, New York on August 31, 1864. Wounded in action at Fair Oaks, Virgina. Discharged on August 31, 1865.
