"Several local servicemen were honored during the year [1945] for their military heroism. One of the most decorated was Ralph Kerr, a medic in the Army. He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry on the island of Kwajalein; the Bronze Star for bravery in the Phillipines; the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with four battle stars; the Purple Heart for wounds suffered on Okinawa; the American Defense Ribbon; the Good Conduct Ribbon; and the Phillipine Libertation Ribbon. Ralph was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert T. Kerr of Avalon Street (Allison)."

Ralph Gordon Kerr of Arvada, a plumber, died Thursday. He was 85.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Arvada Cemetery, 5581 Independence.

He was born July 25, 1915, in Durango. In November 1946, he married Marjorie Kinkel in Arvada.

Kerr served in the Army as a staff sergeant during World War II.

He was a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Linda Norwood, Beatrice, Neb.; a son, Robert, Arvada; and one grandchild.
