ALFRIEND, Esther Reece, age 99, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Westminster-Canterbury in Richmond, Va. Born in Snow Camp, N.C., she was a graduate of Guilford College. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Terry Alfriend Jr. She is survived by her four children, Esther A. Blythe, of Charlottesville, Va., Dr. K. Terry Alfriend III and his wife, Bonnie, of Pebble Beach, Calif.; Malcolm C. Alfriend II and his wife, Carole, of Richmond, and Mary Anne Noland and her husband, James, of Richmond; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She had been a member of Reveille United Methodist Church since 1962. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, 12609 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. on Monday, August 4, at 12:30 p.m. and a memorial service at Westminster-Canterbury will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, August 4. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Reveille United Methodist Church or Westminster- Canterbury Fellowship Fund.
