The oldest child in the family, Pete was a dwarf and gained the reputation of being the smallest man in the state. At age 21 he was 38 inches tall. At age 27 he weighed 33 Ibs.
For several years in his later life, Pete lived with his sister Ella D. Goff and her husband David Lee Goff in Taylor County, Kentucky.
Pete died in Taylor County 23 June 1947.

Funeral services for John Albert "Pete" Higgason, 75 years of age, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 24, from the Walker-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge. Burial was in the Dudgeon Cemetery. Mr. Higgason was born in Green County but has been a resident of Taylor County for many years. He died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Lee Goff, Route 4, June 23. He professed faith at an early age and was a member of the Baptist church. He is the son of the late Granville and Lucy Sandidge Higgason. He is survived by two brothers and four sisters, Wilder Higgason and Ellis Higgason, both of Buffalo, Ky., Mrs. Arthur Cook, of Petersburg, Ill., Mrs. Clyde Russell of Webbs, Ky., Mrs. Lee Goff, of Taylor County, and Mrs. Mary Higgason, of Buffalo, Ky. Two brothers preceded him in death. The pallbearers were Cleston Pepper, Coy Goff, Jessie Walls and Ezra Wilcoxson. Flowerbearers were Misses Mary Louise Wilcoxson, Rosa Walls, Iva Nell Wilcoxson, Barthena Goff, Mary Margaret Goff and Fay Goff.
