Birth.
Michael Joseph Kelly, son of Michael Kelly and Anne Kelly, formerly O'Brien, was born on 19 November 1882 at the Infantry Barracks, Clonmel.
His father, a Sergeant, registered the birth on 8 December 1882.

other sources indicate that he joined the British Army in September 1899, serving until 1903.
The Royal Irish Regiment served in the Boer War in South Africa. It is assumed that Michael Kelly was part of the Regiment there.
It is not known when he was demobilised.

Marriage.
Michael Joseph Kelly, aged 24, a bachelor, a Shopkeeper, from Paul Street, Wexford, son of Michael Kelly, a Club Steward, married Bridget O'Gorman, aged 26, a spinster, a Shop Assistant, from 28 South Main Street, Wexford, daughter of Michael O'Gorman, a Farmer, on 24 February 1908, at Wexford Church.
