Betty Jean Gressel of South Haven, Kansas, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at her grandson's residence near South Haven, Kansas at the age of 84.
Betty was born the daughter of Loyal M. and Leona (Blunk) Gaskill on Tuesday, April 19, 1927 in rural Sumner County, Kansas.
On August 17, 1942, Betty and Dwight Reed Gressel were united in marriage in Newkirk, Oklahoma. Together they celebrated 58 years of marriage.
Betty was a dedicated farm wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors include her two sons, David Gressel and Dorsey Gressel and his wife Vicki all of South Haven, Kansas,; grandchildren, Orville Lee Nelson and his wife Anita, Devin Gressel and his wife Tina all of South Haven, Kansas, Darci Ryke and her husband Dave of Battle Creek, Michigan, Chad Gressel and his wife Lura, Brandon Gressel and his wife Trisha all of South Haven, Kansas, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ada Baker, Mary King and her husband Jim, Naomi Crossley and her husband Galyn, Vera Baker and her husband John and a brother, Pete Gaskill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Donnie Gressel; grandson, David Gressel, II and sister, Emma Fern Hedrick.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2011.
Graveside services for Betty will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 in Forest Hill Cemetery near Ashton, Kansas.
