John Mike Hearne died Friday, Feb. 25, 2006, at the Beyond Home Assisted Living in Butte.

He was born Sept. 19, 1902, in County Waterford, Ireland, to Michael and Catherine (Flynn) Hearne.

John came to the United States in 1920 and worked in the Butte mines for about six years. He then worked for Ward Engraving Co. and Ashton Engraving Co.

John enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II; after his discharge he returned to Butte and worked for Ashton Engraving for 30 years. He then moved to Savannah, Ga., and worked as and engraver until he retired.

John never married and was an artist and enjoyed photography.

John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Nellie Tweet of Butte and Mary Power of Liverpool, England.

He is survived by his nephews and nieces and their families, Jim Tweet, Melvin and Cheryl Tweet, Andrew and Susan Tweet, Sister Paula Tweet, SCL, Kathleen (Tweet) and George Goggan, Jennifer (Power) Galtress of Heswall Cheshire England.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Friday in St. John the Evangelist Church. Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials: St. John the Evangelist Church, or Butte Central Education Fund.
