PHOEBE'S NICKS ANCESTRY
The Nicks family stems from a William Nicks in Northamptonshire, England. Some of the family lived in New Kent Co, VA, and Talbot Co, MD, before moving to present day Guilford Co, NC.

Robert Samuel Brashears (RSB) married, about 1754, surely in Orange Co, NC, though we have found no records, Phoebe Nicks, b. 8 June 1738, probably in Talbot County, Maryland. She died in Guilford Co, NC in Dec 1811 and was buried there, but her body was exhumed and moved to Roane County TN in 1812, where she was read. In the Brashears-Kries Cemetery, behind the RSB homestead. She was the d/o John Nicks and Margaret Edwards.

PHOEBE'S POST–HUMOUS TRAVEL
Phoebe (Nicks) Brashears died Dec 1811 and was buried in Guilford Co, NC, probably while on a visit to her brothers and sisters. Robert Samuel Brashears hired a grandson, Robert Samuel Gilliland, to exhume her remains, transport them to Tennessee, and re-bury her. Old Robert Samuel Brashears was either too sick or too tight to pay up, even though the grandson gave him a bill:

January 1812 To: raising and moving said Brashear's wife and entering her again.............................................. 25.00
