Gabriel G. Manley was the son of Jonathan Manley and Elizabeth Rawlins. He was born about 1786 in South Carolina. He married Rachel Oliphant, daughter of Obediah Oliphant and Mary Richey, about 1806 probably in Barren County, Kentucky. They were in Allen County, Kentucky by 1815 before moving to Morgan County, Indiana. They were the parents of 8 children.
Gabriel died in Morgan County on October 12, 1838. His daughter Cyrena's name is shown at the bottom of his tombstone in the Liberty Cemetery at Martinsville. His known survivors were his wife Rachel and his sons: Jonathan, Obediah, John G., William O., and Benjamin B. Manley.
