Son of Joel and Abigail Batchelder Adams. First name is spelled "Everitt" and "Evert" on some records; gravestone is engraved "Everett".

On October 31, 1861, Everett mustered in as a Private in Company A, 2nd Vermont Regiiment. He deserted August 17, 1862, then returned. On November 5, 1862, he was discharged due to disability. He re-enlisted January 4, 1864, and mustered in the next day as a Private in Company F of the 9th Vermont Regiment. He mustered out May 25, 1865.

Everett was a farmer in Peru, Vermont when he married Althea Aldrich on December 25, 1867 in Londonderry, Vermont.
