US Congressman. Served in the United States Army during World War II. Elected to represent Michigan's 13th District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1937 to 1939, 1941 to 1947, and 1949 to 1955. He was defeated in 1938, 1946, and 1954. Also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Michigan in 1944.
