US Congressman. In 1840, he was engaged in business as a dry-goods merchant in Plymouth, Michigan and served as the dry-goods merchant supervisor of Plymouth Township. In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress, serving until 1853. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his mercantile pursuits until 1871, when he engaged in banking and served as president of the First National Bank of Plymouth, Michigan. He died at age 86.
