Captain was our first canine companion. My husband's sister mentioned a newspaper ad for Scottish Terrier puppies to him and he wanted one. We hadn't planned to get a pet but memories of his parent's Scottie, Max, overcame him and that was that. His sister and I went to see the litter and I decided Captain was the one for us. By the time we got back, my sister-in-law was having the same Scottie longings, and back we went for another puppy! She picked Captain's brother, Mac, for her family. One thing for sure, Scottie pups are adorable.

I didn't know much about puppy behavior but Captain seemed mellow by nature and later experience would prove me correct. He spent more time with my daughter and I than with my husband and Captain generally favored us. Captain will always have that special place in memory of being the first. He patiently and lovingly taught me how to be a human companion.

When we decided the next year to acquire a Scottie female, we found Brandy to be of a much different nature and she quickly bonded to my husband.
