Don was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Yorktown, Ill., to John T. and Erma V. (Blumenshine) Lou. He married Carol Law on Nov. 17, 1957, in Bradford, Ill. She survives in Henry.
Also surviving is one son, David W. (Lisa) Lou of Henry; one daughter, Kimberly (Dave) Hamilton of Henry; one brother, Thomas W. (Barbara) Lou of Henry; 12 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Jacqueline K. Lou, and a grandson, Aaron Lou, preceded him in death.
Don was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church.
He also was a member of the Henry American Legion Post 323 for 26 years. Don was active in the Legion and worked his way through the various offices of junior vice commander, senior vice commander and became commander, serving from 1985 to 1986. He served as 16th District Sergeant-of-Arms from 1989 to 1990 and was an active member of the 40/8 Voiture 768 and was past Chef deGare. He was active in both the VFW and American Legion.
Don was employed at B.F. Goodrich, Henry, for 32 years, and later as groundskeeper and maintenance of the Henry Home and Indian Town Home Associations for 14 years.
He served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War.
Don was also active in various athletic programs, serving as scorekeeper and umpire.
Burial will be in Henry Cemetery, Henry, Ill., with military rites at the cemetery by the Henry American Legion.
