82, of Crystalwood Drive, Liverpool, died Sunday at his home. He was the son of the late Thomas E. Palerino and Edith Pekofsky, was born in Syracuse and resided in Liverpool for the past 31 years. Thomas attended Notting-ham High School and received his master's degree in education from Syracuse University. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps. Thomas retired in 1990 after more than 30 years as a reading specialist for the Syracuse City School District. Since then, he was a substitute teacher for the North Syracuse School District. He was the past principal of the Americanization League, English as a Second Language program and a member of the Syracuse Teachers Union. Thomas was a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, where he also volunteered with the bingo committee for many years. Thomas is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Margaret "Peggy" (Langan); his daughter, Eileen Palerino of Syracuse; two sons, James and Michael Palerino, both of Liverpool; his granddaughter, Amanda Gusman of Syracuse; three brothers, Richard Palerino of Syracuse, Dr. David Mardon of Richmond, KY, and William Mardon of Florida; and his two sisters, Barbara Caplan and Beverly Dunlap, both of Jacksonville, FL. Friends may called from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Krueger Funeral Home, 2619 Brewerton Rd., Mattydale. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church.
