78, of Syracuse, died Wednesday at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, he was a restaurant manager for Grimaldi's and Walter White's. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes, a member of the Syracuse Rose Society and numerous other horticulture organizations. He enjoyed volunteering his time in Thornden Park rose garden and sharing his knowledge of and passion for gardening with others. Richard was predeceased by his wife, Mary Toppazzini Palerino, in 2000; a son, John Palerino, in 1965; and two brothers, Tom "Shelley" Palerino and John "Jack" O'Donnell. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Palerino of Camillus; one son, David Palerino of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 8:45 a.m. Monday at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, Syracuse, and 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes, 300 Valley Drive, Syracuse
