WINSTON-SALEM - Howard Junior "Pete" Colbert, 77, passed away February 26, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 19, 1935 in Yadkin County to Howard Andrew and Sadie Frye Colbert. Howard retired from RJR Tobacco Company after 36 years of service. He was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church. Howard served in the Honor Guard for the VFW and as the Athletic Director for the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Stroud Colbert. He is survived by two children, Teresa Colbert of Lewisville, and Phillip Colbert and wife Zelda of East Bend; two grandchildren, Shannon Nicole and Andrew Phillip Colbert; three siblings, Donald Colbert of Winston-Salem, Frances Matthews of Pfafftown, and Ethel Marie Griffin of Duluth, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Harry "Bud" Stroud and wife Irene of Mocksville; and a special friend, Karlene Cope of Farmington. The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Farmington United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Farmington Community Cemetery on Friday, March 1. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Farmington Community Cemetery fund or the Farmington United Methodist Church.
