MOCKSVILLE - Mr. Spurgeon Holmes Foster Sr., 89, formerly of Dulin Road, Mocksville, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Foster was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Davie County to the late James Franklin and Mary Lillie Bell Garwood Foster. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Cornatzer United Methodist Church, where he had been a trustee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Leona Hepler, Sallie Winters and Geneva Hepler; and three brothers, William Foster, Theodora Foster and Charlie Foster. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Virginia Lucille Melton Foster, of Autumn Care of Mocksville; a daughter, Judy (Roger) Musgrave, of Mocksville; two sons, Spurgeon (Sherry) Foster Jr. and Jerry (Cindy) Foster, all of Mocksville; four grandchildren, Bryan (Beth) Foster of Roper, Wesley (Heather) Foster of Columbia and Jessica Foster and Lisa Foster, both of Mocksville; a stepgranddaughter, Angela Taylor, of High Point; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Foster and Luke Foster. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at Eaton Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Luther and Rev. Shane Young officiating. Burial will follow in Cornatzer United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, Nov. 5, at Eaton Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be considered for the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220; American Heart Association, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216; or American Diabetes Association, Memorial & Honor Program, P.O. Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038-1132.
