A 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Wednesday October 23, 2013 at Wilson Primitive Baptist Church with Elders Rodney Marshall and Scotty Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A Stokes County native, Edith was born October 26, 1914, the daughter of Yancey and Carrie Sisk Yates.
She attended Wilson Primitive Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Yates and Delmar Shelton.
She is survived by her special friends, Olin & Becky Joyce of Madison and Bobby & Brenda Mabe of Walnut Cove and many cousins.
Edith was a very special person. She was a very hard worker, a good homemaker and was known for her cooking, especially home made coconut cakes. Every where she went people loved her.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home.
The family would like to offer special thanks to her caregivers Phyllis Martin and Brenda Mabe for the tender loving care Edith received. They would also like to give thanks to the staff & nurses at Morehead Nursing Center for the care they gave to her.
Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
