He was considered an of the best experts on psychosomatic illness and of the treatment. In 1959, he was named chief division of psychosomatic medicine at UCLA. His 1964 book, "New Dimensions of Psychosomatic Medicine" became a best seller in Psychiatry. He is also known for having psychoanalyzed several personalities in Hollywood.
