Husband of Auburn woman dies at Attica.
The husband of an Auburnian was one of nine hostages who died Monday inside the walls of the riot torn Attica State Correctional Facility. Two Auburn residents, both correctional officers were released alive but were hospitalized for stab wounds. John J D'Arcangelo Jr , 23, husband of the former Miss Ann Hunger, was killed by inmates during the five hour siege Monday. State authorities said D'Arcangelo, originally of Liverpool, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John J D'Arcangelo, Sr, of Orion Path Liverpool. The couple had recently resided in Batavia Gardens.
D'Arcangelo was a graduate of Auburn Community College. His parents own Seneca Lanes 438 W. Seneca Turnpike. D'Arcangelo graduated from Liverpool High School in 1966 and received an associate degree in psychology from Auburn Community College in 1969. He formerly worked at Ellenville and Sing Sing prisons and was transferred to Attica two months ago. Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by four-month-old daughter, Julie Ann; a brother. Richard D'Arcangelo of Liverpool, and a sister, Mrs Ann Marie Tillich of 257 Seneca Drive, Syracuse.
