The date of her death is also confusing. The old stone in the Downing Graveyard has been copied as died 6 Jan 1840. However she appears on the Federal 1840 Census of ARW pensioner (widows)taken in the summer of 1840 as alive (U.S. Pensioners, 1818-1872 Kentucky 1831-1843)
She was paid 2 times a year Mar & September. September 1841 was the last payment.
Her son George Viley Downing's will written 28 Sep 1841 mentions "my mother" so she must have been alive then. Need to check the Ky Agency Rolls for ARW pensioner widows deaths. A search of the Scott Co., Ky. Court house did not reveal anything re probate .
22 Nov 1836 - Henrietta Downing deposed Scott Co Court aged 88 (bc 1748) that she married her husband 1 year before he went into the army
She & Francis Downing & children came to Ky. with her twin brother, George Viley & family, arriving on Christmas Day 1795.
