America Froman was born on March 12th, 1827 at Jeffersonville, Clark Co., Indiana to Thomas Froman (1798-1880) and Elizabeth Carder Rand (1802-1886). Her paternal great grandfather, Cpt John Paul Froman (1734-1799), fought in the Revolutionary War and was "Captain of the Militia" in Pennsylvania. Her maternal grandfather, Thomas Rand (1746-1825), an emigrant from North Ireland, also fought in the Revolutionary War, as a member of the Virginia Infantry. She married Nimrod Price (1822-1916) on Oct 22nd, 1846 in Vermilion Township, LaSalle Co., Illinois. Nimrod, a native of Louisville, Kentucky, was a son of James Price and Druesilla Morgan (1795-1870), both of whom having been born in Morganstown, West Virginia. Nimrod's maternal great grandfather, Col. Morgan Morgan (1688-1766) was the first white settler to build a permanent residence in West Virginia and also built the 1st church West of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A native of Wales, he also was a Captain of the Militia in West Virginia; his son, Colonel Zackquill Morgan (1735-1795), Nimrod's grandfather, had been the founder of Morgantown, West Virginia and had also fought in the Revolutionary War.
