Rex Charles Bennett, 63, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1945 in Troy, NC to the late Corbett and Pearl Bennett. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for over 40 years. Rex retired from RJ Reynolds as a supervisor. He was a member of Old Town Masonic Lodge AF & AM. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, two grandchildren, Devin Bennett, and KC Bennett, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Dianne W. Bennett of the home; a son, Kevin Charles Bennett of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Kimberly Cerny and husband Mark of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Bennett of Winston-Salem, Jordan, Abby Rose, Luke, Bennett Joy, Sean Mark, Cruz Cerny all of Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, three brothers; and mother-in-law, Earline Johnson of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in the old sanctuary, at Gospel Light Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby Roberson. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville.
