From the Winnipeg Evening Tribune, April 16, 1943:

DE Dicks, Pioneer of Teulon Dies

D. E. Dicks, prominent farmer of the Teulon district, died in Teulon Hospital April 7.

Mr. Dicks came to Canada from Cheshire, England at the age of six. He moved to Teulon district when he was 16.

In 1889, he married Emma White, daughter of Mr and Mrs. White, one of the first pioneer settlers in the district.
Mr & MRs. Dicks made their home two miles east of Teulon and remained there until their retirement in 1920 when they moved into town.He was interested in sports, and an enthusiatstic curler, being a member of the Teulon Men's Curling Club.

Mr & Mrs Dicks celebrated their golden wedding anniversary four years ago. He is survived by his widow, five daughters, Mrs. W. J Hutchison, Winnipeg; Mrs R Cameron, Angus, Ontario; Mrs R Maddin, Vernon, BC; Mrs E Johnson, Teulon; and Mrs. J Gilsons, Toronto. There are also three sons, Dr. R.E. of Dauphin, Manitoba; T.W. the town clerk of Dauphin and R.E. of Chicago. There is also a brother, Harry of Teulon, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The funeral service was held Sunday at 2:30pm in Teulon United church. Burial was in the family plot in Windsor cemetery. Rev. A Cox, of Stonewall, conducted the services. Mrs. S Grahame and Dr. Goodwin, accompanied by Mrs A Campbell sang.

Hononrary pallbearers were: J Grahame, H Malpas, A. Bond, A. Hayes, C. McPherson and W.J. CAmpbell. Active ballearers were: J. Grahame, H Malpas, A Bond, A Hayes, C McPherson and W J Bathgate. C. Cronmiller, Teulon, Man. was in chrge of the funeral arrangements.
