Shelby D. Bates was born on August 26, 1996 in Owosso to Thomas and Trena (Cleveland)Bates. She was in her freshman year at Chesaning High School were she was an honor student and active in the choir. She loved to laugh and play jokes and goof around. One of her favorite things to do was reading and spending time with friends and family. She really enjoyed camping with her family and especially spending time with her little sister Jaden.

Obituary: BATES, Shelby Danaye of Oakley, Michigan passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2011 due to injuries received in an automobile accident, age 14 years. Funeral services will be held on Monday February 14, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Chesaning. Rev. Mark Johnston and David Kimball will officiate with burial in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home, Chesaning on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Monday after 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to her little sister, Jaden's college fund. wmartinfuneralhome.com
