"CONDUCTOR FALLS FROM MOVING TRAIN TO DEATH
Freight Pulls Into Yard With One of Crew Missing; Others Find Body on Tide Flats. A Northern Pacific freight train pulled into the yards south of Holgate Street yesterday morning without a conductor. A search was instituted by members of the train crew and the body of James R. Crigler, the missing man, was found on the tide flat a short distance from the entrance to the N.P. yards. Crigler apparently had fallen to his death while moving from one car to another on the freight train. Crigler is survived by a widow and three children, two daughters and a son. The family resides at 124 Twenty-third Avenue. The body was taken in charge by Deputy Coroner H.E. MacDonald. Bruises on Crigler's body indicated to the deputy coroner that the conductor had not met foul play, but had been thrown from the train as it lurched on rounding a curve."
Seattle Daily Times, Monday Evening Sept. 29, 1913, pg. 13

Son of Dr. J.R. Crigler and Elizabeth Leach.
Brother of John and Camdon Crigler.

Children: Belle, Hattie and Roy
