Dr. Charles P. Burt, 83, retired dentist, died at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday at the Proctor Endowment Home where he had reside for the last 15 years.
Dr. Burt formerly practiced at Elmwood from 1890 to 1918 when he came to Peoria, where he continued his practice until his retirement about 15 years ago.
He was born at Elmwood June 17, 1870, a son of Edward E. and Johanna E. Barbour Burt and married Carrie M. Higgins at Elmwood. She died in Peoria in 1920. He was a graduate of the Iowa State Dental College and was a member of the Peoria Dental Society. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge at Elmwood and formerly was active in the work of Hale Memorial Methodist church here.
Surviving are one daughter, Miss Leola F. Burt of Chicago; two sons, Dr. Elliott P. Burt of Peoria and Hugh H. Burt of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Higgins of Peoria and five grandchildren. One daughter died in infancy, and four sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Robert L. Stubbs of First Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
