Phoebe Mae Sawyer wed Cleo Short on April 11, 1918. Together, they had five daughters -- Virginia, Dorothea, Elizabeth (aka Black Dahlia), Elenora and Muriel. Reports are that Cleo left the family in 1930, and Phoebe was left to raise her five girls on her own.
