Rebecca was one of the first female Doctors to graduate(1861) from Penn Medical University She married her husband, Samuel Carey Longshore in 1856. She was also one of the first and only women who treated American Indians (Pawnee tribe). She traveled and lectured about her expertise abroad which was not common for women in that time. She and her husband, Samuel Carey Longshore had no children. My Great grandmother, Rebecca Longshore Reynolds Anderson, was named after her. She was her aunt.
