Funeral services for Mrs. Mary E. Brown, 79, of Nashville, were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, at the Hadley Chapel of Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home in Old Hickory, with Bro. Sellers Crain officiating. Burial was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 at Holly Springs Church of Christ with Bro. Bobby Gore officiating.
Mrs. Brown died Sunday, July 14 at St. Thomas Hospital. She was a housewife.
Born January 6, 1923, in Overton County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Newton and Ermine Catherine (Claborn) Dailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmer Dailey, Hubert Dailey, and Arvis Ray Dailey; and two sisters, Lara Ethel Dailey and Delma McWhorter.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar Brown, Nashville; three sons, Raymond Brown, Leonard Brown, and James Brown; two daughters, Dorothy Hewitt and Reba DeJesus; seven brothers, Herman Dailey, Roy Dailey, Howard Dailey, Donald Dailey, Willie Dailey, Robert Dailey, and Clifton Dailey; two sisters, Thelma Gore and Bulah Morgan; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Brown, Ray Brown, Robert Brown, James Brown, Gregory Brown, and Billy DeJesus Jr.
